Where it comes from.
Tropical foliage doesn't usually make it into Islamic geometric design; the tradition is mostly desert in temperament, and this piece is the exception. Five layers of frond and petal cut to the same parametric discipline as a Fez madrasa, but with subject matter borrowed from a Casablanca courtyard garden. Fusion in the literal sense.
