About this piece
Why it exists.
Inspired by the entrance arch of the Madrasa Bou Inania in Fez, a 14th-century portal whose stucco lattice has been the unofficial alphabet of Moroccan geometric design for six hundred years. Thirteen stacked layers translate the arch's shadow play into relief.
